Man, 21, missing from Deering

A 21-year-old missing from Deering was last seen Wednesday.

Marquis Lockwood was last seen in the area of the 10100 block of South Bensley Avenue, Chicago police said. He was wearing an orange t-shirt, black sweatpants and black and orange gym shoes.

Lockwood, who also goes by “Kobe,” is 6-foot-1, 160 pounds, brown eyes and has dark brown and blue hair, police said. He has tattoos on both arms, including “Shivion” on his left shoulder.

1 dead, 4 wounded in Englewood shooting

One person was killed, and four others were wounded Saturday when they were shot in Englewood on the South Side.

They were on the front porch of a home about 5:51 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Paulina Street when they heard gunfire and felt pain, Chicago police said.

A male whose age was not known was hit in the chest and thigh, police said. He was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The Cook County Medical examiner’s office has not released his identity or details about his death.

A 38-year-old man who was shot in the lower back had his condition stabilized at the same hospital, police said.

A woman, 25, was struck in the abdomen and taken to St. Bernard Hospital in critical condition, police said. She was to be transferred to Stroger Hospital.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the arm, and his condition was stabilized at St. Bernard Hospital, police said. Another man, 26, was hit in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

Witnesses told police they did not see who fired the shots, but one told investigators a dark-colored vehicle drove off from the scene, police said.

No arrests have been made. Area South detectives are investigating.

1 killed, 1 wounded in Archer Heights drive-by: police

A person was killed and another wounded in a drive-by Sunday in Archer Heights on the Southwest Side, police said.

They were traveling in a vehicle about 3:54 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Pulaski Road when someone fired shots from a passing vehicle, Chicago police said.

A man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

Another man, 38, was hit in the chest, abdomen, hand and was able to take himself to Mount Sinai Hospital where he is in serious condition, police said.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.

UPDATE: Boy, 15, killed in Austin shooting

A 15-year-old boy was killed in a shooting Sunday in Austin on the West Side.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 2:19 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Washington Boulevard and found the teen unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the leg and back, Chicago police said.

Dovantae Jackson was pronounced dead on the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the area.

Police said there are no witnesses to the shooting.

Area North detectives are investigating.

Man walks into Holy Cross Hospital with gunshot wound

A man walked into a hospital on the Southwest Side Sunday with a gunshot wound, police said.

The 29-year-old showed up around 6 a.m. at Holy Cross Hospital in the 2700 block of West 68th Street with a gunshot wound to the chest, Chicago police said. He will be transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.

He is not cooperating with police on the location of the shooting, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.

Jogger rescued after falling into South Branch of Chicago River

A man was rescued Sunday after he fell into the South Branch of the Chicago River.

The 39-year-old was jogging about 4:15 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Ashland Avenue when he accidentally slipped and fell into the river, Chicago police said.

A crew member working on a barge spotted him and brought him onto their boat, police said.

The man was taken to the University of Illinois Hospital in good condition but complained of leg and stomach pain, police said.

The CPD Marine Unit responded but there were no other people in the water, police said.

On Friday, two people were found floating blocks away in the same branch of the river.


UPDATE: Man wounded in Marquette Park shooting

A man walked into a hospital on the Southwest Side Sunday with a gunshot wound, police said.

He was in a vehicle in the 3200 block of West 66th Place when three males pulled up in a white Chrysler and the person in the back seat opened fire, police said.

The man was initially uncooperative with investigators and wouldn’t tell them where the shooting took place, police said.

Man appears at Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds

A man is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital after he showed up there Sunday with multiple gunshot wounds.

The 28-year-old was shot several times in the body and showed up to the hospital in the 1900 block of West Ogden Avenue about midnight, Chicago police said. He is in critical condition.

The man is not cooperating with officers, who do not know when or where the shooting occurred, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating.

Man shot crashes into IDOT truck on Dan Ryan

A man crashed into an Illinois Department of Transportation truck on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday after being shot multiple times.

The man, whose exact age was not known, was southbound on Interstate 90/94 about 6:20 a.m. when he crashed into a IDOT Minuteman truck parked on the left shoulder near 47th Street, Illinois State Police said.

He was found with gunshot wounds to his right leg and left arm and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said. The IDOT worker was not injured.

State police said they do not know if the shooting happened on the expressway or somewhere else.

No lanes are closed on the Dan Ryan and traffic is flowing, state police said.

A man is in custody after he crashed into a pizza restaurant on the Northwest Side Saturday, killing an 81-year-old woman and wounding four others.

The man, 34, was eastbound in the left lane of traffic about 3:41 p.m. in the 4700 block of West Fullerton Avenue when he lost control, went over the sidewalk and struck a Cochiaro’s Pizza restaurant, Chicago police said.

People were waiting outside for the bus when they were struck, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Myrna Logan, 81, was pinned underneath his vehicle and pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. A man, 60, was also taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition with a leg injury, police said.

Two women, 64 and 82, were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The older woman had a broken leg, and the younger woman had leg injuries. Both their conditions were stabilized.

A 76-year-old woman was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston with a leg injury, police said. Her condition was stabilized.

The driver of the vehicle was treated and released from Community First Medical Center, police said. He was taken into custody, and Chicago police’s Major Accidents unit is investigating.

No charges had been filed against him as of Sunday morning.

Indiana Walmart evacuated after person shot

A Walmart was evacuated Sunday in Hobart, Indiana after a person was shot.

The person was shot about 3:55 p.m. at the Walmart at 2936 E. 79th Ave., Hobart police said.

The person’s condition was stabilized and they were taken to an area hospital, police said. The store was evacuated as officers investigate.

Two people were taken into custody, and weapons were recovered, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Man chased into home, shot in Rosemoor

A 52-year-old man was wounded Sunday when someone shot him in a home in Rosemoor on the South Side.

A male chased him into the home about 4:14 p.m. in the 10200 block of South Prarie Avenue, Chicago police said. He fired shots at the man from behind and ran off through the front door.

The man was struck in the back, and his condition was stabilized at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.

Man wounded in Morgan Park drive-by

A 19-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by Sunday in Morgan Park on the South Side.

He was standing in an alley about 4:51 p.m. in the 1300 block of West 110th Place when someone in a blue Jeep fired shots, Chicago police said. The vehicle drove off northbound.

The man was struck in the arm and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.

No arrests have been made. Area South detectives are investigating.

Two people were taken into custody Sunday after a person was shot in a Walmart in Hobart, Indiana.

Officers were called about 3:50 p.m. for reports of a shooting inside the Walmart at 2936 E. 79th Ave., Hobart police said. There, they found a male with a gunshot wound. His condition was stabilized at an area hospital.

The incident seemed to stem from an altercation, police said. A male was taken into custody by an off-duty officer shopping at the time. A female who was accompanying him was also arrested.

The store was evacuated while officers investigated, police said.
