At least 10 people have been shot on the South and West sides of the city since Wednesday morning.
The latest shooting happened about 8 p.m. at a Gresham neighborhood store, where a clerk shot an 18-year-old man multiple times when he tried to rob the business, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition.
About the same time, someone in a vehicle driving through the East Garfield Park neighborhood’s 100 block of South Springfield shot a 16-year-old boy in the leg, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Another drive-by shooter wounded four men about 4 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Monroe in West Garfield Park, police said. A 23-year-old man was shot in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, along with a 20-year-old in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a 27-year-old grazed in the arm who was listed in good condition. The fourth victim, 24, was shot in the arm and taken to Mount Sinai in fair condition.
Thirty minutes earlier, a girl or woman walked up to a 17-year-old boy and shot him in the leg in the 600 block of South Karlov in Lawndale. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition after the domestic-related shooting, police said.
About 12:30 p.m., a 13-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 2800 block of South Trumbull in Little Village. His condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai, police said.
At 11 a.m., someone in a silver crossover vehicle shot a 26-year-old man near 108th Street and Sangamon in the Morgan Park neighborhood before taking off north on Halsted, police said. The victim was in good condition at the scene.
Wednesday’s first shooting happened about 8:20 a.m. in North Lawndale. A van pulled up to a 25-year-old man in the 1500 block of South Komensky and someone inside shot him in the leg, police said. He drove himself to Mount Sinai, where he was listed in good condition.
Additionally, a 28-year-old man was shot in the foot at 8:45 a.m. in the 500 block of North Lavergne, and a 16-year-old boy was shot in the hip at 1:11 p.m. in the 3000 block of West Lexington. Those shootings were thought to be accidentally self-inflicted, police said.
