A man was shot to death early Sunday in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
Officers responding about 1 a.m. to a call of shots fired in the 7900 block of South Vernon found the man lying on the sidewalk, according to Chicago Police.
The man, thought to be between 35 and 45 years old, was shot in the head and chest and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality.
