(ST. CHARLES) A southwest suburban man was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for shooting a man to death during a drug deal in Aurora in 2014.
Jaquan Green-Hosey, 22, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Feb. 26 and was sentenced Thursday by Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler Jr. to 25 years in prison, according to a statement from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
About 7:30 p.m. Jan. 13, 2014, Green-Hosey and his brother, Dimitri Green-Hosey, met Arin Williams at a business in the 800 block of North Lake Street in Aurora, prosecutors said.
The brothers had arranged to buy an ounce of marijuana from Williams, but instead decided to rob him of the drugs, prosecutors said.
Jaquan Green-Hosey grabbed the marijuana and began to run away, prosecutors said. Dimitri Green-Hosey then shot Williams in the back of the head, killing him.
The brothers ran away and threw the gun into the Fox River, prosecutors said.
Jaquan Green-Hosey, of the 1200 block of Fairchild Avenue in Joliet, must serve 100 percent of his sentence and gets credit for 990 days served in jail, prosecutors said.
Dimitri Green-Hosey, 21, of the same address, was convicted Aug. 31 by a jury of first-degree murder and armed robbery, prosecutors said. He is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 4.
