Five people were shot Saturday afternoon, four of them fatally, in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The shooting happened at 12:39 p.m. in the 100 block of West 105th Street, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a CPD spokesman.
All of the victims appeared to be in their 20s, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Jeff Lyle said. Two men and two women were pronounced dead at the scene, while another woman was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
Additionally, a 2-year-old boy was transported from the scene to Roseland Community Hospital for observation, but he was not injured, according to police and fire officials.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known.
