(MILTON TWP.) A teenager has been charged after he and a crew of four others broke into a home and 35 vehicles early Monday near west suburban Glen Ellyn, authorities said.
Officers responded to a call of a burglary about 3 a.m. at the Valley View subdivision near Route 53 and Butterfield Road, according to DuPage County Sgt. Robert Harris.
They found a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Chicago, and officers from five nearby department were called to track down the burglars, sheriff’s police said.
Five teenage boys — four from Chicago and one from south suburban Calumet City — were arrested after a manhunt involving several chases, police said. As of Monday night, investigators had tallied one home break-in and 35 burglarized cars that the crew was suspected of carrying out in their overnight spree.
One was charged with a felony count of residential burglary and was ordered held at a youth home. Charges were pending against the others.
