Nine people were shot, three fatally, in attacks across Chicago on Tuesday, according to Chicago Police.
A person is in custody for the latest homicide, which happened during a domestic fight about 7:20 p.m. in the Eden Green neighborhood on the Far South Side. A 21-year-old woman got into an argument with someone who shot her in the chest in the 300 block of East 130th Street. She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died, police said. The alleged shooter was arrested and charges were pending Tuesday night.
About 4:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was gunned down in the East Side neighborhood. He was outside in the 9400 block of South Ewing when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been hit in the torso. He died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after the gang-related shooting, police said.
Tuesday’s first killing happened just before 7 a.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood. Officers responding to a call of shots fired found a man thought to be between 18 and 22 on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He was pronounced dead at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released any of the victims’ names.
The latest nonfatal shooting happened about 7:30 p.m. in the South Side Kenwood neighborhood, where a 29-year-old realized he was shot in the head while driving in the 4600 block of South Greenwood. He kept driving to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
About 4:15 p.m., someone robbed a 28-year-old man in the 1100 block of South Keeler in Lawndale on the West Side and then shot him in the groin, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Just before 3 p.m., someone in a white Jeep with Indiana license plates shot a 31-year-old man in the buttocks as he got onto a bus in the 5500 block of South Damen on the South Side. His condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai, police said.
About 2 p.m. in the Park Manor neighborhood, a group of people opened fire on a 26-year-old man at the corner of 71st Street and Rhodes, hitting him in the forearm. He later showed up at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Half an hour before that, a 31-year-old man got into a fight with someone who shot him in the elbow and leg in Englewood’s 400 block of West 61st Street, police said. He was stabilized at Mount Sinai.
A 25-year-old man was shot in the back about 12:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Keeler in Little Village. Police did not release the circumstances of the shooting, but his condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai.
Twelve people were shot in Chicago on Monday, leaving two dead.
