UPDATES WITH DETAILS THROUGHOUT

A man was killed and four other people, including a 13-year-old boy, were seriously wounded in a West Englewood neighborhood shooting Monday night on the South Side, authorities said.

The group was standing in the front yard of a home at 8:50 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Winchester when a group of males walked up and started shooting, according to Chicago Police. The shooters then ran away.

A man in his 20s was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately provide more details.

A 13-year-old boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the right thigh and was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said.

A 23-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left leg and a 30-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the left leg and buttocks were both taken to Stroger Hospital, according to police. Their conditions were stabilized.

The fifth victim, a male whose age was not immediately known, was shot in the right leg, right hand and shoulder, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.

No one was in custody for the shooting as of early Tuesday.
