A person died after being pulled from Lake Michigan Sunday afternoon in Rogers Park on the North Side, fire officials said.
Emergency crews were called at 2:14 p.m. to the beach at Loyola Park near Sheridan Road and Greenleaf Avenue, according to police and fire officials. A kayaker had brought the person to shore and started performing CPR by the time paramedics arrived.
The person was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston and later pronounced dead, officials said.
Fire officials said the victim was a woman in her 30s, though police said the person was a man. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately have information.
