(EVANSTON) A woman was charged with breaking into a garage Thursday afternoon in north suburban Evanston.

Officers were called at 4:48 p.m. to the 1200 block of Hinman Avenue after a resident saw the woman enter a neighbor’s garage, according to a statement from Evanston police. The owner, an 84-year-old woman, was unsure whether anything was stolen from the unlocked garage.

Investigators later found 24-year-old Kristia R. Berg, who matched the suspect’s description, in the 1200 block of Chicago Avenue, police said. The neighbor who called police later identified her as the person he’d seen entering the garage.

Berg, who lives in the 1400 block of Chicago Avenue in Evanston, was charged with one felony count of burglary, according to police.

She was ordered held on a $60,000 bond and was expected to appear in court again Sept. 29, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.
