(HAZEL CREST) The death of a 37-year-old south suburban man last week has been ruled a homicide.

Ricky Davis died at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest at 7:04 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Davis, of the 1900 block of 169th Street in Hazel Crest, died of a pulmonary embolism, bilateral deep vein thrombosis and multiple gunshot wounds to the lower extremities, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled a homicide.

It was unknown where or when Davis was shot. The medical examiner’s office could not provide additional details about his death; and Hazel Crest Police Chief Mitchell Davis III said the homicide did not occur in the village.
