UPDATES WITH ADDITIONAL SHOOTING

A slew of attacks Saturday evening that left a man dead and at least 13 injured in the span of about three hours was the latest spat of weekend violence that has seen at least 30 people shot, including two fatally, across Chicago since Friday evening.

More than 200 people have been shot in the first half of the month, and more than 1,500 have been shot this year, according to Chicago Sun-Times data. Of those victims, 276 have died.

Despite the carnage, this weekend is far behind the pace of the same weekend last year. From June 17, 2016 to June 20, 2016, at least 56 people were shot, 13 of them fatally.

This weekend’s latest killing happened at 6:24 p.m. Saturday in a Back of the Yards neighborhood shooting on the South Side, according to Chicago Police. A 32-year-old man was shot multiple times in the body in the 4800 block of South Racine.

He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office didn’t immediately confirm the death.

The night before, three men were wounded, one fatally, in a South Side Englewood neighborhood shooting. About 11:45 p.m. Friday, the men, ages 23, 25 and 29, were standing in front of a home in the 5900 block of South Union when three gunmen walked up and opened fire.

The 25-year-old man was shot repeatedly, and died at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the death.

The youngest man shot in the chest taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, while the oldest man shot in the right leg taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The latest in a series of Saturday evening shootings happened at 7:27 p.m. Saturday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side. Three people were shot at 7:27 p.m. in the 1600 block of West 44th Street, police said.

A 32-year-old man was shot in the right arm and right leg, according to police. His family took him to Stroger Hospital. A woman, 36, was also taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right side of her body. Another man, 36, was shot in the right side of his body and taken to Rush Hospital. Their conditions were unknown.

Minutes earlier, two teens were shot in the Logan Square shooting on the Northwest Side. The men, ages 18 and 19, were in a vehicle at 7:21 p.m. when they started arguing with a group of males in the 3000 block of West Wabansia, police said. One of the males then fired shots, striking both men.

The younger man was shot in the right leg and older man was shot in the right arm, police said. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were stabilized.

Last weekend, 43 people were shot, six of them fatally.
