(VOLO) A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in northwest suburban Volo.
About 3:45 p.m., a black SUV was attempting to turn left from Volo Village Road to head east on Route 120 when it was struck by a green pickup truck traveling west on Route 120, according to the Lakemoor Police Department.
When crews arrived, the 32-year-old McHenry man driving the truck was standing outside his vehicle, but Rosalba Bocarando, the 46-year-old woman driving the SUV, was pinned inside, authorities said.
Bocarando, who lived in Round Lake Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. An autopsy Tuesday found she died of injuries suffered in the crash.
Police said the man was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening, but fire officials said he was treated and released at the scene.
The Lakemoor Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol and Lake County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Unit.
