A 59-year-old man was charged Friday with robbing a Rogers Park bank on the North Side.

David L. Johnson is charged with bank robbery in connection with the 10:16 a.m. non-takeover robbery of a Byline Bank branch at 6495 N. Clark, according to FBI spokesman Garrett Croon.

Johnson was ordered detained at a federal court appearance Friday.

Johnson, who is homeless, entered the bank and robbed it of $552, according to FBI. He entered the bank and handed an employee a white bag and told her to put “all the money” inside.

Chicago Police officers saw a man matching the robbery suspect’s description in the 7000 block of West Ravenswood, the FBI said. Johnson was carrying the bag with the money inside when he was stopped by police.
