Four people were killed in a crash Sunday morning between a CTA bus and a car in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, according to Chicago Police.
The car was speeding west in the 2600 block of West Madison about 6:15 a.m. when it hit a parked car, lost control and struck a CTA bus head-on, police said.
The driver and three passengers in the car were killed, police said. Their ages and genders were not immediately known.
The bus driver and four passengers on the bus suffered injuries that weren’t thought to be life-threatening, police said.
CTA No. 20 buses were rerouted in both directions near Madison Street and Talman Avenue until 11 a.m., according to the transit agency.
Police are investigating whether alcohol was involved in the crash, police said.
The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating. The CTA is assisting Chicago Police with the investigation, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.
