A man was killed and at least 20 more people have been wounded in shootings across the city over Labor Day weekend, according to Chicago Police.

The latest shooting turned fatal early Sunday in the Archer Heights neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Two men, ages 22 and 32, were standing in an alley about 12:10 a.m. in the 4800 block of South Kildare when they heard gunfire and both felt pain, police said.

The older man was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office did not immediately confirm the fatality. The younger man suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and chest and later showed up at Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened late Saturday in the Irving Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. About 11:50 p.m., a 25-year-old woman was outside in the 3400 block of West Irving Park when someone in a black SUV fired shots at another vehicle and a bullet ricocheted, striking the woman’s right leg, police said. She declined medical treatment.

A 20-minute burst of gunfire Saturday evening left five people wounded in separate attacks.

At 8:20 p.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, a 63-year-old man was shot in the back by someone who robbed a store in the 1800 block of West 47th Street, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

About the same time, a 17-year-old boy and a man were each shot in the back in the 4900 block of North Kenmore in Uptown. They took themselves to Weiss Memorial Hospital, and their conditions were stabilized, police said.

Just after 8 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. Someone walked up to him at a park in the 5000 block of West Hirsch and opened fire, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

About 8 p.m. in Gage Park, an 18-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the 5500 block of South Troy, police said. A family member drove him to Mount Sinai, where he was listed in good condition.

At least 13 more people have been shot in Chicago since 9 p.m. Friday. Last year, 54 people were shot over Labor Day weekend.
