UPDATE: 7 wounded in Chicago weekend shootings

UPDATES WITH ADDITIONAL SHOOTINGS

Seven people have been wounded in shootings since Friday night on Chicago’s South and West sides.

The most recent shooting happened about 10:10 p.m. Saturday in the Pilsen neighborhood. A 39-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 900 block of West Cullerton when a someone in a gray SUV fired shots, striking him in the back, according to Chicago Police. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Just after 4 p.m., a 14-year-old boy was shot in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was shot in the arm in the 1500 block of East 70th Street when someone fired shots from a vehicle. The boy was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.

A 31-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were both wounded in an Austin neighborhood shooting earlier Saturday on the West Side. They were on a sidewalk about 5:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of North LeClaire when a gray car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. The woman was shot in her thigh, and the man was shot in his abdomen. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was stabilized and he was listed in serious condition.

Shortly before 4:30 a.m., two men were hurt in a drive-by shooting in the South Side Heart of Chicago neighborhood. They were walking in the 2200 block of West 18th Place when one or more people in a small silver car opened fire, police said. One man, 22, was shot in his chest and buttocks. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition. The other man, 32, was shot in his abdomen and grazed across a thigh and finger. His condition was stabilized at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The weekend’s first shooting happened Friday night in the Princeton Park neighborhood on the South Side. A 39-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk at 9:53 p.m. in the 300 block of West 95th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and took himself to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

Last weekend, four men were killed and 10 other people were wounded in shootings across the city. More than 500 people have been shot in Chicago so far in 2017.
