A man was fatally struck by a car early Sunday in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
The man, thought to be in his 50s, was crossing the street at 12:38 a.m. when a he was struck by a 2006 white Honda car traveling west in the 7900 block of West Belmont Avenue, Chicago Police said.
The driver of the Honda stopped at the scene and rendered aid to the man before paramedics arrived, police said.
The man was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.
Additional details were not immediately available. The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
