UPDATE: Man shoots girlfriend, kidnaps her and 2 kids in South Chicago

Charges were pending Saturday against a man who allegedly shot his girlfriend during an argument before forcing her and her two children into a vehicle Friday night in the South Chicago neighborhood.

The woman was involved in a domestic argument with her 36-year-old boyfriend about 9:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of East 91st Street when he pulled out a gun and shot her in the wrist, thigh and foot, authorities said.

After the fight, the man forced the woman and her two children into a vehicle and drove away from the scene, according to Chicago Police. The vehicle eventually hit another car in the 9000 block of South Jeffery.

The woman was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition was stabilized, police said. The children, ages 10 and 6, were also taken to Christ for observation and were listed in good condition.

An unknown number of occupants from the second vehicle involved in the crash were taken to South Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooter was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition with injuries he suffered in the crash, according to police. He was in police custody and charges against him were pending Saturday.
