UPDATES WITH ADDITIONAL DETAILS, 12-YEAR-OLD NOT SHOT
A 16-year-old boy was wounded in an East Garfield Park neighborhood drive-by shooting Sunday night on the West Side.
At 7:28 p.m., the boy was standing on a corner in the 3900 block of West Madison when a vehicle drove by and someone inside fired shots, striking him in the right hand, according to Chicago Police.
The boy ran to the 100 block of North Wolcott, where he notified authorities of the shooting. He was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Police initially said a 12-year-old boy was also wounded in the shooting, but later said he was not struck by gunfire. Area North detectives are investigating.
