(WILLOW SPRINGS) A southwest suburban woman won $75,000 with a $1 Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick ticket last month on Veterans Day.
Mary Gallotta, 51, purchased the ticket at Oak Pantry and Deli, 6925 Joliet Rd. in Indian Head Park, and matched all five numbers – 03 – 06 – 31 – 33 – 43 – in the Nov. 11 evening drawing, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.
“It was already such a great day, and then I won the lottery too,” she said in the statement, adding that she had taken the day off work to give out coffee and donuts to veterans. “I wanted to do something to give back because I really appreciate all that veterans have done for us.”
During the day, she found a dollar in her pocket purchased a lottery ticket. She discovered that she won $75,000 when she checked the ticket a few weeks later and said she plans to put the winnings in the bank.
The retailer received a bonus of $750, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
