A man was shot to death last week in a road rage incident on the Southwest Side.

Marquist Boyd began arguing with a 22-year-old man following a traffic incident in the Lawndale neighborhood, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Boyd, 43, was allegedly armed with a baseball bat and, sometime during the altercation, the 22-year-old pulled out a handgun and shot him in the head, authorities said.

The incident happened about 9:44 a.m. on Aug. 24 in the 2200 block of South Kirkland Avenue, police said.

Boyd was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the next day at 5:12 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the same block where he was shot.

Officers detained the 22-year-old after observing him in the 4300 block of West Cermak Road, police said. Charges were pending.
