Three Arizona men were arrested in southwest suburban Orland Park last weekend after they were allegedly found with weapons and drugs in their vehicle.
Officers began a drug investigation after receiving a tip that a suspected heroin dealer from Arizona was in the area, Orland Park police said. They arranged a meet-up for 5 p.m. Aug. 24 in the 7100 block of 159th Street, and stopped the pickup truck of the suspected dealer, which was towing another vehicle.
As officers approached the vehicle, they allegedly saw Hector Acosta-Feliz, 28, holding a bag of crystal meth, police said. When the two other occupants, 26-year-old Johnnie Lee and 45-year-old Taurence Lopez, got out of the vehicle, officers saw guns on the floorboards by their feet.
All three men were charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine, police said. Acosta-Feliz faces additional counts of the latter two charges for “intent to deliver.”
In total, over 2.5 kilograms of suspected heroin were recovered, along with over 400 suspected grams of methamphetamine and about 140 grams of pills, police said. The seizure of heroin is the largest in the history of the Orland Park Police Department.
The trio were ordered held without bond, police said. They are due in court Sept. 20.
